Wingdale, NY. - Westchester Modular Homes, Inc. headquartered in Wingdale, NY, celebrated the delivery of their 5,000th modular home on Wednesday, November 1. Realty Development Associates in Sagamore, MA, a long-standing, successful Westchester model homebuilder in Southeastern Massachusetts, has taken delivery of the 5,000th home. House 5,000 is both a milestone in the company’s history and an example of the latest national trend in the teardown/rebuild housing market.

Westchester’s House 5,000 is a 1670 sq. ft. spacious colonial featuring 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, center island kitchen, gas fireplace, attached garage, screened-in porch and outdoor deck. The new owners of House 5,000 are a professional couple from Delaware who enjoy vacationing and entertaining on Cape Cod. After months of searching for a new home to replace their existing cottage, the owners decided to tear down the house they outgrew and replace it with a new Westchester home on their existing property.

As in the situation of House 5,000, a teardown/rebuild usually occurs when a smaller or older home is located on a very desirable piece of property, and the owner wants to improve and/or increase the size of the home. In areas where land prices have sky rocketed as availability of land has decreased, particularly in the Northeast, teardowns are fast becoming the modern alternative to remodeling. In many instances, it is more cost effective to rebuild instead of remodeling a home. In a rebuilt home, the homeowner also benefits from new heating and air conditioning systems, new energy efficient insulation, new kitchen and baths and totally new living spaces. As the demand for rebuilt homes increase, Westchester Modular Homes is fast becoming an industry leader in this specialty market.

In addition to the rebuild market, Westchester manufactures single-family, multi-family and light commercial products, including a new adult living series, which are distributed throughout the Northeast through a network of independent, authorized builders.

Westchester Modular Homes was founded in 1986 by two prominent New York builder-developers, Charles Hatcher and Thomas Flood. In January 2000, Westchester Modular Homes was one of the first modular manufacturers in the nation to become an employee-owned company and is recognized throughout the industry for their outstanding custom design and high-quality craftsmanship.

Westchester holds a factory open house on the first Saturday of every month. These events are open to the public, but all participants must be 18 to tour the factory.
